Commentaries

Many of you have been asking about my “Commentaries Project.” I evaluate evangelical commentaries for every book of the Bible and select the one you should purchase first. The concept (and my rough drafts) have generated quite a bit of interest. Anyway, it is now complete. If I promised you a copy, e-mail me and I will send you one. If not, you will have to wait until a certain institution of theological instruction decides to publish it (or not). Please pray that they decide quickly.
I will say this….purchasing anything from Duane Garrett (OT), Daniel Block (OT), Peter O’Brien (NT), and especially D.A. Carson (NT) is a good bet.

In related news, I have told several of you to purchase the 12-volume Expositor’s Bible Commentary from CBD.com. I got the set for $100. It is now selling for $149. This is not the only commentary set you’ll ever need (you should still purchase my booklet of recommendations!), but it is very good for a small volume set and should be part of your ministerial library at this price.

Under the Steeple

Under the Steeple is a new blog taking the world of pastor blogs by storm. You owe it to yourself to check out the thoughts and insights of one of today’s leading recent Southern Seminary graduates. This is the kind of pastor that R. Albert Mohler, Jr. is trying to produce.

Congratulations, Jon.
