Genesis Word Tree

Many Eyes is a social data-visualization site. They have several cool visualizations of data sets, but have recently added a Word Tree for Genesis (KJV). Check it out.

Very cool. I’ve not a clue how it works but it’s cool. Who thinks up these things? A better question, who puts these ideas into action?

If I ever had a decent idea, I would call those guys.

By the way, how do you find all this neat stuff anyway?

The people who think and do these things are strange little beings who dream of transcending the material limitations of wired input devices to more fully interface with their internet dreams…

I was almost one of these people, so I appreciate the beauty of their devotion.

A lot of the “neat stuff” come from a site I’ve linked to before - OpenBible.org. This guy is doing lots of cool stuff with Bible research tools. He’ll probably get snapped up by some company soon and then will work only for ‘the man.’ But until then, you should check the site often. What I really appreciate about the guy is that he describes how he does what he does and shares the code. Total humility. I like that. I think we should all share more of what we do as students of the Bible.
